Styling: Mad Men Inspired

In honor of the Mad Men finale on Sunday I thought it was only appropriate to post this dapper look on the blog. This gorgeous lace dress is from Shabby Apple, an adorable shop that specializes in beautiful vintage style dresses and clothing. I was first attracted to this lace dress because of the cute little bow accent at the waist. Not only does this show off your silhouette but the bow adds a very feminine touch that sometimes, in my opinion, can get lost in an all black ensemble. The discreet zip up back makes it super easy to get off and on as well. All I had to do was throw on some heels and grab my sunglasses and I was good to go.

The Alice Dress comes in many colors though, of course, I chose black. I feel like this is a dress you can wear to almost any formal event. The high collar adds a modest look while the accented waist still shows off your figure. Also, since it’s a solid color dress, you can mix and match almost any shoes, bag, jewelry combo. It seemed like the most obvious choice for this dress was black and gold, so never being one to completely follow “the rules” (aka don’t mix silver and gold). I opted for my favorite antique necklace and my Jeffrey Campbell shoes with a lucite heel. Both are not quite silver, but not gold either.
