This statement series will be the first of many posts. I have quite a few statement pieces, mostly vintage, that I have picked up throughout the years. Every time someone will see a statement item of mine they’ll ask me one thing, “But how would you even wear that?” Meaning, that the print/design is so bold or over the top that it can’t really be worn casually or at all. Of course there is a time and place for certain outfits. You wouldn’t wear a cocktail dress to the gym just as you wouldn’t wear pajamas to a wedding.
This kimono is definitely a statement piece. It is white, for one, with velvet detailing and long white fringe. This means it is very delicate and can get easily stained. This piece can either be styled up or down. I chose to dress it down. This kimono can easily be worn with a long beautiful dress and heels. I chose to wear it with a very casual black top and matching shorts. Because the piece has several different colors going on: blue, purple, green and white. I decided to style this piece over a simple black base as to add the least amount of distraction possible, while still maintaining a contrast between the kimono and the rest of my outfit. Outfit details will be listed below.
